The Focus Initiative serves our communities through four core programs: Outreach, NextGen , Scholarships, and our Faith, Worship, and Spiritual Care program. Together, these programs work to meet real needs, develop future leaders, and strengthen individuals and families through service, education, and faith-centered support.
OuR FOUNDING STORY
The Focus Initiative was founded in November 2022 by Jamorrey Gosha as a faith-based response to the needs of underserved communities in East Alabama and West Georgia, rooted in the belief that compassion, service, and intentional leadership can transform lives. What began as a grassroots movement in Phenix City quickly expanded its reach, launching the Focus Barbour-Bullock County Chapter in January 2024 and engaging students, families, and volunteers through mentorship, scholarships, community outreach, prayer gatherings, leadership development, and worship experiences. Since its inception, The Focus Initiative has been formally recognized through multiple proclamations from the State of Alabama, the City of Phenix City, and the City of Columbus, Georgia, honoring Focus Forward Days and affirming the organization’s growing impact. Today, the movement continues to thrive through partnerships, service, and a mission grounded in engaging the community, equipping the inopportune, and empowering the world.

OuR areas of service
The Focus Initiative primarily serves the East Alabama and West Georgia region, focusing on Russell County, Alabama; Muscogee County, Georgia; Lee County, Alabama; Barbour County, Alabama; and Bullock County, Alabama. Our organization is headquartered in Phenix City, Alabama, serving the Russell, Lee, and Muscogee communities, with an additional satellite chapter, FOCUS Barbour-Bullock County, dedicated to meeting the needs of Barbour and Bullock Counties.
